Consultation and assessments provide a critical component to holistic care . Each role provides opportunities for additional perspectives; therefore ensuring client care is approached both inclusively and comprehensively.
Dr. Jennifer Lentenbrink (she/her) received her PhD in clinical psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2018. She brings over 10 years of experiences providing psychotherapy and assessment services to Counseling with Joey.
For several years, Dr Lentenbrink worked in Los Angeles for the Department of Mental Health providing in home-services and assessments to connect individuals with appropriate care. She also provided psychological testing to support clinical decision making.
She also had the privilege to do much of her clinical training at Valley Community Counseling Clinic in the Los Angeles where she was mentored and trained by many prominent psychoanalysts in the area. The extensive psychoanalytic and psychodynamic training has deeply influenced and shaped her approach to the therapeutic and assessment process.
Dr. Lentenbrink’s approach focuses on examining underlying factors and piece together a picture of an individual in a very nuanced and carefully minded way. This approach allows her to hear beyond symptoms and construct a holistic view and understanding of those she has the opportunity to work with.
Additionally, she has worked in residential treatment settings with those who have found themselves navigating mental health and/or addiction in a more intense manner. This experience has taught her how to meet psychological needs on a broad spectrum.
In addition to working with Counseling with Joey, Dr. Lentenbrink is in private practice and specializes in treating adults who suffer from attachment trauma, mood disorders, personality disorders, dual diagnosis and complex trauma.
In her free time, Dr. Lentenbrink enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and exploring San Diego. On the weekend, she can often be found hiking around beaches and trails with her husband and twin boys in tow.
